Important remedy for a rattling, loose cough, where you find it difficult to cough up mucus. You sound like you're drowning in mucus. You feel like you are suffocating. Weak, exhausted and debilitated. Feeling annoyed and yawns a lot. It is difficult to breathe, and the patient is forced to sit up in bed to get air. Sometimes it feels as if you are choking when you cough with mucus coming from the lungs. You feel washed out, irritable, and you sweat a lot. All symptoms are worst at night. Heat aggravates the condition.
Children complain and make a fuss if they have to be touched or examined by the doctor. Anger makes their physical condition worse, the more attention they get, the more irritable they become. They don’t like to be spoken to or looked at.
The tongue has a white coating. The patient feels better by sitting up and wants apples and other 'sour' things to eat. The patient gets worse when when laying down, around noon and 4 pm and if there are visitors. Not very thirsty but prefers to drink cold water.
In short: Rattling cough, but mucus is difficult to bring up. Wanting to eat apples.
Other helpful hints: Good for coughs with chickenpox. Also great for chickenpox that move very slowly.
