Really good remedy for whooping cough (see also ant tart and ipecac), where the cough is violent, rhythmic and can cause retching and maybe even lead to vomiting or nosebleeds.

The patient complains of feeling cold, but begins to cough as warmth spreads throughout the body.

The cough is worst at night and begins as soon as the person lies down on the pillow. Feeling better by holding on to the chest.

It feels as if a feather is tickling the throat. Deep hoarse voice.

Restless, emotional, stubborn or suspicious.

Another strange symptom is feeling dizzy and overwhelmed when outside in the fresh air.

Hot, stabbing pain in the right cheek, while the left cheek feels cold. Feeling better by sitting up and getting fresh air. Worse when laying down, talking and with too much heat.

In short: Barking cough at night, which can lead to retching and vomiting.

Other helpful hints: Good for coughs that come after measles.
