This is the most prescribed homeopathic medicine of all. It has a close connection to water and to salt (it is made of salt).

Nat mur is an important remedy for deep, pent-up grief and repressed emotions, and in particular when those emotions eventually lead to a depression. With this remedy we can treat very sensitive people who have protected themselves by shutting the emotions inside. They would rather be alone with their grief, and only a few close friends or a single person will be allowed to comfort them. Otherwise, they prefer to cry when they are alone.

It is a remedy that takes root in the feeling of being hurt, but there are many physical manifestations of this as well. It is often used for headaches (tension headaches), which loosen up a bit by being massaged. It is also used for cold sores, edema, colds (with clear fluid dripping from the nose), hay fever and sleep problems. The patient loses the sense of taste and smell. The discharge is always clear and runny, but it may become stuffy after a few days. With hay fever, you experience that the lips can be swollen and burn with tiny blisters, which give off moisture before they become sores. When these dry up, deep furrows in the lips that are painful can appear.

The patient gets worse from warm weather, especially direct sunlight, and from being comforted. The patient feels better in fresh air and when they fast. There is a pronounced urge for salt and the patient is also very thirsty.

In short: Very private people who, however, are very emotionally sensitive. Craving for salt. Edema, but dry on the outside.

Other helpful hints: If one has a nat mur personality, then one often sees that remedies like apis, bryonia, and ignatia can be used well in acute symptoms.
