Used for everything where stabbing has taken place. Either because you have been stung by an insect or because you have been stabbed with a needle by the doctor, such as a biopsy. Of course, it is also the first remedy to grab if someone is stabbed by a knife. Very important that it is also the first remedy to prescribe after a tick bite. Ledum in particular is indicated if the area around the bite is cold. The remedy is also used in connection with deep wounds, as when stepping on a piece of glass or a nail. The area around the wound is swollen, blue and cold.
Stinging, violent and throbbing pain in the joints indicates ledum.
Feeling worse from local heat, even if affected area feels cold and the patient may be freezing.
Ledum is also used to treat black eyes.
In short: Puncture wounds. Joints that are swollen, cold and slightly purple.
Other helpful hints: Ledum is used for black eyes with pain. If it is the eye itself that hurts, then you should look at the symphytum. Can also in some cases be used if you have strained the ankles (see also ruta).
