Silica is great at drawing things out of the body that should not be there. It can be used for excessive wax in the ears (especially after swimming) and can also be used for very severe constipation. Silica is also used as the 'last stage' in an abscess, where it will push the last pus out. Silica then helps with the skin's healing process so wounds heal up nicely.

In the case of acute illness, this remedy is suitable for chilly persons with repeated stubborn infections. It is recommended when the person is thirsty and sweats easily, and also feels better in warmth and worse in cold, humid or wet weather.

Please note: silica is used to push foreign substances out of the body, such as splinters and broken glass, therefore it is not recommended to take silica if you have something implanted in your body. Do not take this remedy if you have a contraceptive coil, pacemaker, implants, grommets in the ears, metal screws or nails in the body, etc.

In short: Pushes things out of the body and helps skin heal nicely.

Other helpful hints: This remedy is often appropriate for people with a shy personality who are scared of needles and very sensitive to vaccines.
